From a former Royal Marine to a sailboat owner, find out how Monty Halls is learning the ropes and introducing his children to the marine environment.
Having never sailed before, Monty bought a yacht, a Colvic 34 named Sobek. He has now started his sailing journey out of Dartmouth and onto new adventures with Raymarine lending a helping hand.
After spending a large amount of his life around the sea as an experienced diver and commercial powerboat skipper, Monty had the idea to go straight into the deep end and buy a sailing yacht.
Even though he has never sailed before, it was going to be a great adventure and a new chapter for Monty and his family, including a very excitable golden retriever.
The goal is to introduce his family to the natural world, and with the Raymarine kit onboard, Monty will be able to do this safely, while still making memories.
Sobek will be used to reach new areas of outstanding beauty, new ecosystems, places you can only reach by boat, to teaching the next generation about the wonderful world out there. Monty has visited some of the most remote environments on earth, but now he’s decided it’s time to explore his local area by sailboat.
