June 2006 ~ With weather conditions changing daily, more than 270 sailors have signed up to receive free email and text message weather updates from Raymarine, with more subscribers expected before the final updates on the eve (Friday 2 June) of the JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race (Saturday 3 June). Also new for the 2006 race is a two minute video giving a three day weather and tides forecast, to make it even easier for crews to see the big picture - this will be accessible from late afternoon on Wednesday 31 May at www.raymarine.com.
The Raymarine weather updates are from renowned marine meteorologist Chris Tibbs. The forecasts are designed to provide competitors with the all important low down on the weather and tides for the race, enabling them to plot their best course – and even work out which sails are needed. Chris Tibbs has analysed the information using Raymarine’s RayTech navigation software to demonstrate the weather forecast and progression of tides, currents, wind speed and direction.
There’s still time to take advantage of the new email / text message facility, register online at www.raymarine.com.
