out which sails you will need, and even decide the ideal crew weight.

Raymarine will be keeping sailors up to date as the weather unfolds, with a free service providing email or text message updates. To take advantage of this new facility, register online at www.raymarine.com. The weather briefing will be online from 31st May, and updates will be added until Friday 2nd June, the evening before the race.

Notes to Editors:
• Chris Tibbs will use Raymarine’s latest RayTech navigation software to demonstrate the weather forecast for Saturday’s race, and show the progression of tides and currents, and wind speed and direction. To give a
clear idea of the weather conditions the detailed data will be overlaid on an electronic chart of the race course, helping skippers and navigators to plot this against the best course, for their optimum race.
• Raymarine’s navigation software incorporates on-board and online data into one easy to use format to provide dynamic animated weather forecasts. The ability to view the forecasts hour by hour means users can see how the weather will develop during the race.
• Chris Tibbs is currently a consultant meteorologist for Ericsson Racing Team during each Volvo Ocean Race stop over. He lives on the Isle of Wight and is the Official Forecaster for Skandia Life Cowes Week. Chris has 20 years and 250,000 sea miles experience racing around the globe.
• Chris more recently has been navigator on several record breaking passages including Round Britain & Ireland Mono hull and Multi hull records and also the Round Ireland record. Chris has a Masters Degree in Meteorology, and runs Sailing-Weather.com, a weather forecasting service for the sailing community.
