PSP Southampton Boat Show stand G88
Friday 12 September 2008 – If you want to get the best from your onboard electronics, and can’t tell your AIS from your DSC, then set a course to Stand G88 at the PSP Southampton Boat Show, where Raymarine is running a series of free training sessions.
Taking place four times a day throughout the show, the 20-minute informal training sessions are hosted by two of the UK’s leading RYA instructors and are designed to provide users with expert advice, tips and training on all aspects of marine electronics.
Free to visitors, the sessions start at 11.30am with an introduction to electronic navigation. This session is repeated at 15.30. At 13.30 there is a training session on radar and AIS, and at 17.30 the focus is on cartography and upgrading your software.
At the training sessions visitors learn about the latest developments in technology, how to maximise the features in the products, and take part in practical demonstrations illustrating the quick and easy methods available to access the technology.
Jon Mendez – one of the UK’s premier powerboat instructors – and David Luetchford from recognised RYA training centre Mendez Marine, are carrying out the training sessions and say the events are designed to be practical and fun.
David says, “The sessions focus on making electronics easier to use and understand. Visitors are delighted to find there are useful shortcuts and to discover that the technology is extremely user-friendly.
These sessions take the mystique out of sophisticated products and have shown people how developments in technology can help them be safe and enjoy their time on the water.” The sessions end with an informal question and answer session.
Visitors should arrive at the Raymarine stand – at G88 in Ocean Hall by the waterfront – well in advance of the session start time. Places are allocated on a ‘first-come’ basis. For more information about Raymarine products, visit www.raymarine.com
