If you have an extensive database of secret fishing spots, waypoints, routes and tracks stored in your Multifunction Display its a good idea to periodically back them up using a MicroSD (mSD) memory card. The process is quick and easy and save you potentially hours of agonizing work reentering data if something were ever to happen to your equipment.

Note: You should perform this before doing a software update and when you make changes to your Waypoints/Routes/Tracks database.  You can use the same card that you are using for the software update.  Just insert the card when the MFD is turned on.  Inserting the card before the unit is turned on, with the update software present, will start the update procedure again.  

You can also use this saved file with Voyage Planner to edit at home.  You would then use the Restore feature to put the updated Waypoints/Routes onto your chart plotter.

Backing Up Waypoints, Routes and Tracks 

To backup your data to a mSD memory card use this procedure:

1. Insert your backup card into the card slot.
2. Press the 'My Data' button on the Homescreen
3. Select 'Save Data to Card'
4. Select which slot you have your mSD card in. SD1 is the top slot, SD2 is the bottom slot.
5. Choose from the following three options (Waypoints/Routes/Tracks) what you wish to save
6. Select individual Waypoints/Routes/Tracks that you wish to save or select the save all option at the top
7. Repeat for the options (Waypoints/Routes/Tracks) what you wish to save.

Restoring Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks 

You can restore your data to a a/c/e/gS Series display using this procedure:

1. Insert your backup card into the card slot.
2. Press the 'My Data' button on the Homescreen
3. Select 'Retrieve from Card'
4. Select which slot you have your mSD card in. SD1 is the top slot, SD2 is the bottom slot.
5. Choose from the following three options (Waypoints/Routes/Tracks) what you wish to restore
6. Select individual Waypoints/Routes/Tracks that you wish to restore or select the restore all option at the top
7. Repeat for the options (Waypoints/Routes/Tracks) what you wish to restore.
